Good thing it's been authenticated by PCGS or I wouldn't buy it.

Very nice but assuming it goes for say $10 million I would MUCH rather spend the 10 million on a very large collection of slightly less desirable coins.

Quote: "The Sultan of Muscat-Watters-Brand-Childs-Pogue 1804 Dollar"; that's quite a moniker! If I win it, I'm renaming it "Bob's coin"

It will have to be The Sultan of Muscat-Watters-Brand-Childs-Pogue-Bob 1804 Dollar.

I think billjones is the only member I can think of who could be in the bidding.

Quote: Do they have lay-away? As a matter of fact they do. I've been getting emails from Stacks' about how they have payment plans. Quote: I think billjones is the only member I can think of that might be bidding. You overestimate me. I am a dolphin, not a whale.

$4,000,000?
That's just the beginning. In addition to that there is a 17.5% buyers' fee. That works out an additional $700,000. I don't know about you, but I'd hard pressed to pay the buyers' fee let alone "the nut."

I wonder if the final sale will be to a collector or an investor? Is a coin that may sell for 8,000,000 bucks a good long term or short term investment? I don't think I would ever buy a coin like that even if I could because it pays no dividends or interest and you must provide security for it and insure it. It costs you to own it. You can't just keep in the candy bowl or in a sock in your desk.

Even though the draped bust heraldic eagle design is my favorite, especially in proof, I think the proof 1933 5d is the coin I would shoot for...

Yeah but the only important one is Sultan of Muscat.

I would rather spend $10MM on a mansion. And then have $6MM left over to buy lots of coins.
Only 5 more days! Next Tuesday night. Register at StacksBowers.com so you can follow along live. It should be fun. Or at least it should be better than Tuesday night TV.

At this price level and with this pedigree, anyone who buys it is an investor, regardless of whether or not they collect coins. :P
