I'm trying to figure out what the technical term is for a coin like the one on the right. It has some doubling in the letters of In God We Trust, but the part that throws me off is the 2016. It's not raised up like normal, it's pressed in, almost like it was engraved. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

That is a worn die. I've seen this with MANY 2015 dimes and after finding so many, realized they weren't anything special.

For some reason dimes have been turning out this way. Whether it's just the way the die was made or they aren't replacing them I don't know.

Thanks for the info! Clearly I have a lot to learn, but I think this is going to be a good place to do so.

Today's attention to detail and pride of workmanship is sometimes lacking. Of coarse spending more than a cent producing a cent is just spending taxpayers money unwisely.

Thanks aristarchus123. An image shows so much more than a 1,000 words trying to describe what you are seeing. So I use them. I have over 5,000+ images on my image host that I use when the need arises. Good to hear you enjoy these. A large number of images comes from various sources. I note who took the image on each image and add the sites it was from.
