Numisma Pillar of the Community United States 4963 Posts	Posted 05/05/2016 7:54 pm Until 1989 or 90 (I can't remember which), mintmarks were punched by hand into the dies, so the D being a little closer to the date than normal is quite common. As for the S, the small S punch was used from 1917-1941. Report this Post to the Staff
