I noticed this..there is what looks to be a dot above both of the letters "S" and "T" in "state" and a larger spot below "T" as well on the left side roof of the monument..is this a mint error? I've never seen this before..

Not an error.Plating issue. I see a few on there. Most likely they did not rinse the blanks well before copper plating.

I might set it aside if it's a really dramatic one, but I usually just dump these.

Thank you. I have quite a few cents with major plating issues where the whole cent is covered in bubbles, ans a few others with rust holes and cracking, which is why I got excited when I seen this..it's hard to see from my pics, but It looks as though the dots above the 2 S's and T in state are diaresis's, (the dots found above vowels in Greek or Latin) It's hard to see in my photos (which I'm going to search for a forum for suggestions on magnifiers or zoom lenses later today, and my husband said it looked like little droplet's of solder..but we are just learning, so thank you for your responses. I will apologize now for my future questions as I'm sure I will have many lol

It is a split plating issue. Note the outside edge letters on USA have this split between the tops of some letters and the rim. (The pressure on the strike was too strong causing this to happen. The one under the second 'T'in STATES is a different issue. It is the same, split plating, but the cause is different. Note the gray color in the center? That is where something pierced the plating, letting air get to the zinc. The zinc starts to break down after it gets oxygen. There is no premium for these as it will continue to get worse in time. Sometimes the strike is so strong that even the Memorial building and more devices are affected.

This also adds no premium. Just something the coin will have to suffer during it use until the coin is disposed of. If you see a coin that is a variety that has an issue like this, pass! This will continue to break down in time.
