i bought a 2008 silver american eagle pcgs ms70 "first strike" on ebay a couple days ago. total price came out to about $130 with shipping. think it was worth it? I see the 2007's goin for about $200 on occasion

I think the topic of first strikes has been discussed before.
I was under the impression that the mint had said they had no way of telling which coins were first strikes...
As for the MS70 I personally cannot tell the difference between MS69 and 70 so I would go for the cheaper option. After all you are relying on someone else's opinion of the grade until the coin is in hand. Even then you should be able to determine its an MS70 yourself. It has been said may a time here buy the coin not the holder.
If you are happy with the purchase then thats all that really matters.

i would say 120 is a steep price for that coin...

Don't buy an MS70 coin unless it's in a PCGS/NGC/ANACS slab. Even if it actually is MS70, it probably won't be by the time it gets to you unless slabbed. A mark on a coin viewable only under a powerful microscope is enough to make the grade MS69.
