New to collecting and just bought these coins:

https://www.flickr.com/gp/125526768@N07/rTo6rQ

I uploaded pics of the Obverse and reverse sides and the edges.

Wondering what you all think of them and if they look legit?

Here are the weights and dimensions

Hadrian 3.3g 18mm
Marcus A. 3.0g 18mm
Maximinus 3.1g 20mm

They look a little strange to me. Did you buy them from a dealer or ebay? My first impression is they are reproductions but only my opinion.

They are from ebay but not from a dealer who posts lots of coins so I figured I would take a shot. Supposedly from an old collection. They accept returns so I wanted to look at them closer since I am trying to get a feel for how to spot the real thing.

I have also ordered some NGC coins of the same emperors to allow a side by side comparison.

I don't like the looks of the Hadrian, the lettering in the legend doesn't look right to me.

I agree with echizento that the lettering on Hadrian does seem somewhat odd.
Sloppy perhaps is a better word.

I am not in any way expert in the area of silver (as I have oft repeated !) but I would not give these coins a thumbs down either.

The Hadrian and Max look like they may have been 'rubbed' a bit.

Unfortunately with some "old collection" coins the actual collector is no longer with us.
Frequently a surviving spouse will dispose of a collection after first having taken cloth and polish to those "dirty" old coins.

As long as you did not overpay I would not worry too much about it until you can examine them up close.

I think they're probably legit, just the weird lighting makes them look, well, weird.

Sorry. I gotta disagree with Ras here. The lighting is bad, and does mess up the ability to track relief well. Nonetheless, the combination of flatness and altered designs forces me to condemn what I am seeing in the pics.

All three are too flat; authentic pieces have a more dimensional relief. The Hadrian and Maximinus do not reproduce the emperor in the style of authentic coins, and the Marcus Aurelius has the kind of degraded surface we associate with cast copies.

Thanks for the updates everyone. I am going to take some better photos. The relief is similar to NGC coins I own and the edge detail looks very similar as well. I have also ordered a silver test kit and magnet to get more info.

As far as the styles I have located the styles on legit coins in the AORTA book and also on other websites respected by this forum.

Will get new pics up ASAP along with ones of the other coins I purchased.

I don't trust any of these coins. The hair is bothering me on Hadrian. As for Marcus it's the worst of the lot, quality wise, but the portrait bothers me. Frankly unless Sear himself had them in hand and told me they were real I would still ask for a metal test. Don't trust these coins.
