Novice collector here. By novice I mean I buy what I like. A 25 cent coin, a $25 coin. Never spent more then $150 on a coin. I LOVE this coin though. My fear is spending $1000 on it just to see it selling on ebay in a year for $400. So some thoughts from others, how much do you see this coin selling for on the secondary market in a year or two?

You most likely hit it right on, and if the RCM doesn't have enough stuff to sell already

It's a coin? Does it meet the definition of a coin?

So john100, what do you see it selling for in a year? I understand it's rare so there should always be some value....but my autograph is rare and I don't have people lining up to spend a thousand on it...
@ausburger....well, it has face value and is metal...so...I guess?! haha, very good question. The low monetary value of it concerns me a lot...

probably about half of what the RCM is asking, if this semi coin was produced by one of the Chinese mints that would be a different story.

What scares me is the price variety that's already on it. You look at purchasing it from dealers in Asia and do a currency conversion and it's a price difference of about $150CAD. That tells me they really don't have a market for it right now. But we do have to get Poland credit, it's a beautiful piece of....art?
Side note, I'm partial to Faberge. So I'm a bit biased....that's why I'm really looking for assurance on this one. I don't mind spending 50 for a coin thats valued at 25 a year later if it means that much to me. But I've only done that once, maybe twice. This is doing it a dozen times in one purchase!
I appreciate your reassurance.

Mintage of 100 is rare, and if this Polish product was popular it wouldn't need another foreign mint to resell it. it's one step better than a Franklin mint stuff, but if you like it, collect what you enjoy

Oh I like it, like I said it's a beautiful piece of art. And I plan on collecting it, but I want to collect it at a fair value. I didn't, and still don't believe, 1200 CAD is a fair value. You said half, I figured 800CAD next year. So we're both on the same mind set and I've yet to see anything to tell me different.

Just look on ebay if a coin or any item is hot, it will sell for well over list just after the release, a tell tale of how popular any item really is.

That's what I usually do. I buy from three places, the Mint, Gatewest in Manitoba and ebay. So here's a question, if it had a face value at say.... $100CAD, what would you price the egg at?
