My 3rd fractional gold piece but my 1st 20th century example. My other BG designation CA fractional's were my first foray into this segment of numismatics and these little nuggets of goodness are intriguing to the say the least.

No need to guess, here she is in all her glory. It was really the Fleur-de-Lis that caught my eye.

thanks for looking

Nice example of small gold. Another Barber design. Apparently, only about 35K ever saw ownership, with over 200K hitting the melting pot.

I've never seen one of these before. Were these struck at the Expo by the US Mint?

I'm looking online and will need to search more to find out how this 25C got put into play and was it at the expo. Everything I read only mentions the dollar from the expo.

mysterious and a cute as a button

Update

There is a 10 star version that is cataloged as H-61-310 in the Hendershott reference on memorabilia from the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair.

Also, the "Z" at the base for the fleur-de-lis obverse design is the initial of Farran Zerbe who privately minted and marketed these pieces at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. Zerbe, who would later serve as President of the American Numismatic Association, was also in charge of distributing the classic gold dollar commemoratives struck by the U.S. Mint in connection with the Expo. A wonderful proof-like example of the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair gold quarter dollar.
