What you think? AU55?, Or will the small nicks result in details?

If the rim dings do not extend into the denticles, they'll grade it. I'd be concerned about the scratches on the obverse, one in the field at 1 o'clock and a long one to the left from the head to the shield. They are clearly old, but there is a risk it will come back details due to those.

Are you sure this isn't cleaned? The obverse strikes me as cleaned.

I would say that the coin has a shot at AU-50, but it could get a "details" grade because of the rim issues and the scratch in the right field. It might have to go in a couple of times to get a straight grade.

Nice dime! AU-50. Slabbing depends or your intent. If this is for your collection, don't. If you're selling, know it may come back details, which won't help the sale price.

It's been dipped for sure, but the mintages were very high on these coins because the mint, in essence, was trying to replace all of the silver coins that were then in circulation. As a result of that the mint pushed the dies to the limit which resulted in some mediocre coins for the "With Arrows" coins.

Because of the California gold discovery, the price of silver had gone up in a relative sense. As a result every U.S. silver coin that was in circulation, except the tiny Silver Three Cent Piece, melted for more than its face value. That forced a reduction in the weight for all of the silver coins, except the silver dollar, and the arrows at the date to indicate the change.

It may not get a details grade, but the grade will most likely be lowered a little bit.
