I bought all 3...not exactly bargain prices but still..

it's not every day you get to buy 3 of these in these conditions

Congrats! Those are some serious purchases. I was surprised to see 3 of those when I got the pamphlet. How many of these coins are known? How was the competition in this auction?

Not sure how many are out there...with these, I'm up to 20...

I've got the 1859 DP9 No.5 as Sheldon Rarity R5 (up to 75 known)...although it may eventually squeeze a bit past that...

They're very difficult above F.

Before others even knew what these were, 15 years ago, you could get them for less than $10 if you looked around. I've probably owned about 20 myself, but give them away, trade or sell them to collectors who have taken up my love of the 1859's. They are somewhat hard to find, but certainly not scarce or rare. Counting your 20 C-V, I'd say that I know of less than 100 in Canadian collectors hands. There could be more .. they were in the Zoell books as an R2b since the 60's.

Thanks Bill...it would mean that its a R4 on the Sheldon scale then (76-200 known)...
