Here is the fifth Dansco type album in my collection and I was lucky enough to get it at my max $$ amount! Can't wait to fill in more spots!

You scored well on that one.. I've been looking for a Dansco Canada Type Set Album for Yeeeeears!! Had no idea they even existed! I have a used and old Whitman Classic Canadian Type Set Album that I picked up at a coin show for a few bucks. Even those are quite scarce, it's like from the 1960's.. The mylar slides have begun to pull the paper away from its cardboard backing so smaller coins like the dimes fall out of their hole and down into the void. I actually found one in there that went un-noticed by it's previous owner.. So I don't plan on using it..

Yeah I noticed there were two volume albums so wasn't sure what the difference was. But now my Dansco library includes US, Mexico, Canada (yay all of North America), Japan, and Israel. There are 10 more type albums somewhere out there

Awsome score! I threw a few bids at this one, had to go to work 15 minutes before the end of the auction though so it wasn't meant to be. I had a feeling you were going to win this haha.

Yeah I really was looking for an empty album but seeing as how most of the very few of these type albums that show up have coins, at least this one wasn't 100% full. It's pretty nice too because my LCS has a bunch of Canadian silver coinage I can upgrade a few of these with

Haven't done too much research on it just yet (will once the album arrives in a few days) but does anyone know of what coin(s) are going to be the "big one" of the Canadian type album? Thanks!

@Mister Kairu, the 20 cent will be the most expensive hole to fill. Most were melted after the 25 cent denomination was introduced.

Ah thanks for the info, Oriole! A quick lookup shows that luckily the 20 cent coin still won't break the bank so at least it isn't like a Seated Liberty dollar caliber financially. :)

I beg to differ, the 1858 20 cent piece is tough, but obtaining a nice Vicky half and a 1947 ML dollar will be many times tougher. I've completed a type set a couple years ago and these were by far the most difficult to obtain in pleasing condition.

Ah I see. I am not too sure what your definition of "pleasing condition" is, but for me, I just want probably VF-AU details when I can. With the possibility of filling 15 total type albums (plus the $100+ each just for the albums on some), I am not too picky about anything MS grades. I definitely wouldn't mind getting them for more modern stuff but as long as I can see most of the details on a coin that floats my boat. Thanks for the comments!

@kookoox10, yes, a "nice" Vicky half is more expensive, but I did not realize that @Mister Kairu was planning to upgrade the worn ones, not just get a type.

I assumed that the 1947 ML dollar was NOT a distinct type in the Dansco, but if it is, that would definitely be more costly.

Aww yeah the 1947 ML dollar does look about the same price-wise as a Seated Liberty dollar. Blast. lol oh well it will take a life time to fill these if it is at all possible. We will see! And I was only going to upgrade some of the coins only if my LCS had them in their junk bin box (I know they have a few with King Edward/King George V in not-terrible condition). Also looking at some of the other coins in other type sets makes me cringe like a 1935 New Zealand Crown... going for thousands of dollars O.o never going to finish that set haha
