Hi all. This is the reverse of an 1831 capped bust half. It has what looks like a die clash right in the middle of the left wing, but there's nothing on the obverse that could have caused that. It looks like possibly the LIBERTY but it's really in a strange spot. Any thoughts? It's in an NGC slab.

Not impossible, but rare, and when it does happen you will have major clashmarks elsewhere.

It is probably a transfer from another coin damaging that area of the coin.
