I am unfamiliar with this variety, and after doing all the reading here and on coinsandcanada.com I am still unsure if I have the near or far leaf variety.
What do you say?

Near Leaf but what is the obverse?
NSF or SF. Could make a big difference in value.

On the reverse, there are two areas you can look at.
The Near Maple Leaf has the tip of the leaf closer to the denticles then the far Maple Leaf.
Also the tip of the 9 is almost touching the denticles whereas the Far Leaf there is more space.
There are also two different Obverses giving a total of 4 different varieties for the 53 Nickel.

Hello Biedercoins

I put this link with photos and explanation for the 4 kinds of coin for the 5 ¢ 1953.

It's in French but a translator can help you and the pictures show everything.
