Hello, I need some help obtaining some information about my 1998 Canada 5 Cent Upset Dies ICCS Graded MS62 coin. I would like to know the value price wise. I tried contacting a few members directly but this site doesn't allow new users to send email. Any info, or a direction of where to find info is greatly appreciated guys!! Good day maybe 300 to 500 bucks or a touch more, chuck it on ebay if you have no interest in keeping it

john100, I believe that was a 1962 silver quarter in MS64. Sold for $550 or $575 plus the juice.

Welcome to CCF Whats the degree of rotation, is it a full 180 or far less? The more its rotated the more its worth.

ICCS only says Upset Dies if it is exactly 180 degrees. Nickels aren't as popular as some denominations but I think a lower grade 1964 upset dies 5 cents sold at around 1500 a couple of years back. It stilll shows as sold on his web site. I think you would do better than 300 to 500. http://www.members.shaw.ca/ronscoins/fellow.

Never seen a 98 nickel upset... Nice. I'd lean closer to the $500 range on this upset die.

nice coin. To achieve top dollar consign it with Bell auctions for the fall coin expo. Any guess at value is just that, a guess. It in an ICCS old holder. It should do well. North of 200.00 but how much north? Depends who wants it.

The term "upset dies" is meaningless. Dies aren't upset, planchets are. Based on this single photo, it looks like a perfectly normal coin to me.

Hello, Thank you for all in the info guys, we really appreciate it!! The term "upset dies" from ICCS is not meaningless. We had a 1982 Confederate dollar graded upset dies from ICCS and it was a perfect 180* rotation on the reverse just like this 1998 5 Cent coin. Here are some further pictures.

So then it's a rotated die error. I have no idea why they would attach an inscrutable term like "upset dies" to this error type.

It's ICCS version of saying a 180 degree rotation

So what do they call a rotated die error that's less than 180 degrees?
