I started searching some dime rolls today and found a 1981 dime with a mint mark that appears to be filled in or otherwise illegible. I'll attach a picture, although it doesn't show it well.
Anyway, what would you call this mint mark? Is this something to keep or is it worth ten cents (and "cent"imental value)?

Strange-Mint-Mark,-What-Would-You-Call-It?

It looks like a D, but could it be a D/P? I didn't see anything in the Red Book for a variety in this year, but I'm new to this, so...

Thanks!

You know, I just realized something. Should I be posting this here, or in the Variety/Error forum? If I've erred, I do apologize!

It should be posted in the variety/error forum, but I'm sure one of the mods will move it for you. About your question, I would say that the mint mark is filled because of a die chip and it's probably not worth anymore than 10 cents.

That's kind of what I figured, on both accounts.
Thanks for taking the time to confirm it for me!

A die chip that helped fill the mintmark, then damage and wear on the coin itself that completed the job of making the mintmark illegible. Just spend it.

Thanks for all your help and for confirming what I suspected.
