65'ish in my opinion. Pretty good bag mark by the "Y" in Liberty.

Really? Idk about a 65..have you seen the weak strikes and eagles eye on the 67-68's in comparison?

This is a 68..weaker strike all the way around IMO. Scratch under the Y in Liberty(almost identical) and one on the Reverse under the T. I was thinking at least a 66+?

Yes, it is a strong strike but the bag mark will hurt it. What do you think it will grade?

Please post the results when you get it back.

Good luck!

No I wasn't being a jerk I Just think Ike's are graded a bit different based on their size and composition. It seems they're graded more on Luster, Strike Quality, and the amount of bag marks on the devices more than the field, so long as it's not a crazy amount. I'm saying 66+ for sure. I will be sure to post the results. Again, I wasn't being a jerk or doubting it may just be a 65. Just think it'll be a little higher.

I'm curious to see how this does. What service are you using?

I'm pretty set on trying out ICG to test the waters. They're the only TPG that will do a single coin for a reasonable fee. I don't plan to sell it any time soon and the biggest complaint I've heard from ICG is the resale comparison. Where do you think it is grade wise ? Is it worth it to pay the extra to PCGS on this one?

I'm still fairly new to the coin game and trying to work on a budget to feel it out before jumping in too deep but input from experience on a TPG is certainly appreciated

I'm not exactly great with grading, but I do agree that this coin has enough marks to hold it back. I don't think ICG is the best way to go, but perhaps ANACS? I am not really familiar with either service.

It's only a few more dollars for NGC so I may go with them I guess. I hear a lot of bad about the "new" ANACS. I figured to maybe go the cheapest route just to get a rough grade. Idk Its a tough call on the marks though I've been checking and comparing the 65's and they're rough. Like I wouldn't buy one for over $10 rough. It's hard to say and I'm obviously the owner so it's easy to assume it'll pull a high grade, but I'm gonna gamble on this one so I may as well go NGC. I'll be sure to post a follow up to see what it scores.

Jimmyjohns7724,
The so called 68 grade you posted, who graded that one? Your coin I would say MS66 at the most but expect a 65 or 64.I should tell you that I am not very good at grading. Good luck.As to what TPG to use,if you want a MS66 then use ICG. If you want a truer grade then NGC,for a better resale price then PCGS. Don't over look ANACS they are good.

Could you post better pics of your coin, say one with luster showing?

John1, that ms68 is actually the Sonoran Monsoon MS68 from Heritage that sold. It was graded by PCGS. Heritage is usually the Pictures I compare grades to only because ebay pictures and others tend to show less details to make the sale. Looking over ebay listings though, I wouldn't be completely surprised at a possibility of getting a 65 though. I also read that ICG tends to undergrade more than overgrade their coins? I've never used them so I just go on what I read for now. ChildOfWheat, I will make attempts to get a picture with full luster but haven't had much luck with exposure and the shine to get anything of quality with Silver coins. It has a great cartwheel and full luster... besides the small scratch in the polishing under the Y of course.

Ya life's full of surprises. That one sold for a bit under $5k actually. Again, I think Ike's are graded a bit differently than the miniscule details of a small cent. Silver, being a softer composition already, is bound to have a nick here or there. I'm pretty sure it all depends how it takes away from the overall eye appeal. Either way it probably is a 65-66 the more I look at it but that could also be added pessimistic opinions weighing in. We shall see.
