It looks like you may have stage #5 with two spikes from the head. Have to wait and see what JC says. Nice find.

Interesting - I was not aware of stages - where do you find them listed?

I managed to buy one of Cohen's books listing bie's, etc. I am not aware of any listings with illustrations on the internet other than COC that shows the ones that have been submitted. If you look below the cross references for the LDB4-1956-002D on COC you will notice it is "#4 of 5 stage progression". #5 stage will have 2 spikes coming from the skull according to Cohen's book. Yours looks like it may have the second spike and is not listed "yet" on COC. JC would have to look at it as I am by no means an expert.

Earl nailed it!! Your coin is the stage 5. If you email me your permission I'll list it on COC. Also include images of the full Obverse and Reverse. Be sure to include your name for images credit.

This one is listed as LDB4-1956-002E on COC.
http://cuds-on-coins.com/ldb4-1956/

It also is a later stage of Spike Head SKH-1c-1956-01.

Thanks so much, JC! I had no idea it would also be listed as a Spike Head!

That makes my day!

If I am understanding this correctly, it appears that Cohen is assigning different attribution numbers to the various stages of BIE Cents, but not doing that to various stages of Spiked Head Cents. Maybe I am wrong about that? However, if I am correct, I wonder why that is?

Pete, don't know why she didn't on this die. She did on other Spiked Heads.

I notice, JC, that you appear to list some Spiked Head stages by unique attribution numbers. Since this one is a later stage than one you have listed, would it qualify for a later stage attribution number? (I presume that the last character of such a number would be a Capital Letter?)
