I keep track of my collection using a generic spreadsheet. This works great for listing coins. However I would like to add pictures too.
Is there an inexpensive software that is designed for coin collecting that allows me to do both?
If not any recommendations on what to use?
Thanks...Mont.

Just use Excel, it will work just fine. Use your INSERT function tab.

Can I get excel without buying the whole suite? Thought it came as part of the Microsoft Office suite package.

It was but it was only demo. Part of the Microsoft Office demo that came with laptop. Once activated I had like 30 days to buy the suite or stop using. Something like that. I deleted it deeming it an unnecessary program. Excel is all I would use from it so didn't want to have to buy whole thing just to get excel.

My experience is that a spreadsheet quickly gets too big when you add lots of pictures to it. I'm using excel, and what I've done is the following: - on opening a tab for each coin a comment will be added to a cell - the photos will be loaded in that comment Now when you mouse over the comment the photo of that particular coin will show. The advantage is that you still have a very clear overview of all your coins (one per line), while you can see the photos fullscreen. When the spreadsheet is saved a macro will run to delete all the comments again, so the spreadsheet itself stays very small.

What about Apples' Numbers. Can you insert photos in the same manner as Excell? I am new to Numbers and have setup a spreadsheet, an would like to add images (2) for each coin similar to what gxy is doing.

Never worked with Numbers, I'm only familiar with Excel. So I can't help you there, but maybe someone else can?

You can hyperlink in Excel to the picture on your computer. That keeps the Excel file small.
Office or Excel is something you have to buy separately, but you can download it from the Microsoft website.

I use Excel but don't load images. I attach links to images stored elsewhere on my computer. That keeps the Excel file small but I can see the pics when I want.
