I have a Schneider 80mm f/4 Componon-S lens and a Rodenstock 80mm f/4 Rodagon lens.

From what I can gather, the Componon-s has a 40.5x.5mm thread and the Rodagon has a 43mm thread, but I don't know the pitch. If someone knows, please provide that info. I'm tagging my lens' so I won't forget

I'm wanting to adapt a fiber optic light ring to work on these lens', but also will use the light ring on a SZ4 microscope..that's a whole different project.

Are there extension tubes, or something made, that will thread onto the front of these lens' whereby you can then attach the fiber optic light ring to it so as not to damage the lens body itself?

Has anyone done something like this? If so, can you point me in the right direction with links/info as well as posting some detailed pics?

Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If there is enough "meat" on the front of the lens to mount directly, I usually just tape on a few layers of masking tape to protect the lens from damage. You can buy 40.5 or 43mm filters that will add some more length and allow more secure attachment. If the fiber optic light is larger diameter (eg 50mm) then you can get a 40.5 to 49mm step-up adapter and mount the light to the adapter.

I used an un-servicable ring light to make a mount for a light panel I use.

( scroll down this old thread to see how it fits to my bellows: https://goccf.com/t/251132&SearchTe...light+panel)

The old ring light came with a variety of adapter rings the smallest is a 49mm thread. I use a stepping ring 40.5mm - 49mm. to attach the 49mm adapter ring. I had cut down the actual ring light to make a clip on mount for the light panel but for your purposes I think just the adapter rings would do. A number of E-bay sellers sell cheap Chinese made Kodak ring lights( made under license) often they have returned non-working ring lights. Its probably worth-while( the worst that can happen is they say no) to ask such a seller if they have such an example and take it off their hands for a cheap price. Alternately ask KEH, B&H or Adorama if they have un-serviceable examples they want to get rid of. One full set should give you every thing you need except for the stepper ring and that can be found easily on e-bay

Edit:

I did a quick search on ebay couldn't find the Kodak version. I found a working version of another make..The listing includes photographs of the adapter rings I am referring to:
