The area between the line and the rim does not appear to be raised. Is it? Or am I seeing an optical illusion. Makes me think die scratch.

The problem is that it does not appear raised enough to obscure the rim, which I think a Cud would do. So I have no idea what it may be!

It is raised but I'm not sure if it obscures the rim. What could It be if it doesn't obscure the rim?

Looks like a scratch. The discoloration of the metal there makes me think that. Sometimes scratches look raised, but are not.
