I am very new to coin collecting but I found this penny in a wheat roll.
It is different than the typical errors I have seen and I am not sure if it even a mint error,
If anyone could help me by telling what type of error it is it would be greatly appreciated.
Also a reasonable estimate if it is an error or cost of similar errors would be helpful.
thanks

Someone definitely mistreated this coin - put a copper pipe on it and smashed it with a hammer perhaps? Who knows. Definitely damage though.

Spent cartridge may have been used. (large caliber) The reason I felt it might be this as note how thin the ring is. If it were a pipe, the ring would have been larger.
