Hi all,

was wondering if it's worth it value or sales-wise to remove all the coins from a 6-coin mint-issued cardboard coin set to have them graded individually by ICCS or others.

I noticed that these sets sell anywhere from $80-$120 (1958-1960) to in the hundreds (1953-1957).

Assuming they are True & Original Mint sets, would their overall value increase by going this way...?

I've included a photo but this is not about this particular set, it's just one I pulled off ebay to be specific.

Thanks.

These are not Proof sets, collectors call them Proof-Like sets and the Mint referred to them only as uncirculated sets.
The original pliofilm wrap was very fragile and has been compromised on the majority of these sets. Of this majority most remaining sets have been compromised. The better PL coins have been removed and replaced with circulation coins. Before you send any from these sets in for grading you better be absolutely certain you can tell the difference between a PL strike and a nice MS strike and for most years a PL64 grade which is the average won't bring enough money to pay for the cost of grading.

Ok, thanks. By the way, the 1955 Dollar in the photo I put up is from one of those sets...does it look PL or MS to you ?

It does look PL to me too. Mirrored fields and a full well struck rim. Pretty squared lettering and rim as well
