Hey everyone. I have a token I may want to send off to either ICCS of CCCS to have a provenance tag. The problem is I am not sure how to go about it.

I picked up a local token for my Carleton County, NB collection that was sold from Spink and Son's. I do not have the original ad as the website no longer has it up but the coin dealer I got it from told me the story. He is very reputable.

You see this token belonged to the Strong Museum in Rochester, New York and was sold off to raise funds for the museum.

Do you think (and if so how I would go about) ICCS (preferable) would certify this with an "Ex-Strong Museum" designation?

I would imagine that you would need a receipt or something else in writing otherwise it would just be hearsay .

If you can match it up with the example in the auction catalog, you should be able to get that done

I agree that you will need some kind of proof such as a receipt or other.

Just a story from a 'reputable' source won't (or shouldn't) be enough.

RCNA Library should have a copy of the auction catalogue, or you could contact Spink directly... as long as the auction pictures match the coin, it can probably get a pedigree. I did the same thing with a Remick piece sold in a Spink auction.

, but isn't that in itself a problem?

also, how is it determined if a collection/submission is worthy of a pedigree notation?
