syeb Valued Member United States 282 Posts	Posted 06/05/2016 12:20 am In my continuing quest to complete my bust half collection I am looking at this. Although it is obviously cleaned it does seem like a relatively decent specimen with VF30 obverse details and a slightly worse reverse. What does CCF think about the authenticity and grade were I to submit it? Key points do seem to match O-113a attribution. And the next step would be figuring out what to pay relative to a straight slabbed coin. I would love opinions on that although I understand it is highly subjective. Usually it is not that difficult but this is a relatively illiquid coin. Appreciate any pointers I can get. Report this Post to the Staff

sel_69l Bedrock of the Community Australia 21788 Posts	Posted 06/05/2016 10:04 am Perhaps most of the evidence of a shallow strike has been worn off. With light strike most of the detail on the high points only is affected. Most of the detail at a shallower height to the fields is more likely to be struck up. I think VF20. billjones Pillar of the Community United States 1499 Posts	Posted 06/05/2016 4:54 pm The 1805 half dollar comes with a well struck obverse fairly often. The reverse usually with a stronger strike than this. I'm also a bit concerned about the scratch on Ms. Liberty's neck and the color. My net grade would be VF-20.
