Hello, I'm very new to this forum and I'm loving the entire site.

I bought this coin labeled as "Old vietnamese coin",
Size is 35mm.

In another site no one was able to ID, but I got some lights, like it says "gia long qian bao" instead "gia long thong bao" (#37666;#23542;) it also could be mistaken.

Anyone could helpe me figure out which coin/token is?
Any comment will be very appreciated. And sorry for my broken english.

Geison

Is it really 35 mm?
There are quite a few strange things about this coin:
1. It supposed to mean large value, more then 1 cash, since it has corresponding inscription on reverse and is very large in size. However, large value coins are normally done with better quality then the regular 1 cash issues. In this case, quality of mint is very low. E.g. Ref. Qian, which is very much off center line.
2. It is not official Vietnamese coin since those are limited in number of types and all listed in catalogs. This one seems to be not cataloged anywhere.

It would be great if anybody could comment on coin patina if it looks specious in any way.

Thank you for your reply!

It is indeed 35mm, I just do not have a scale to do a proper weight.

This "coin" was bought on Brazil.
I paid around USD 5,00 because I wanted an Vietnam Empire coin, the seller is not expert in coins and had this one labeled as "Old vietnamese coin".

Well, unfortunately my level of expertise ends here.
So, I don't thing I can make any conclusions or imply anything further. The only think that I can say is that, imho, the coin falls into specious category but I don't have enough knowledge to confirm either that it is fake or authentic.
