Hello all,
A friend of mine is the fiduciary of a relative of theirs, and I'll be looking over the coin collection tomorrow to help them figure out what should go to an appraiser and what is essentially junk.
I was curious if there are any tips for any of you to share who've done this? Anything special to look for that isn't common knowledge?
From what they've told me, it's mostly modern coins (of every type).

Side note:
Supposedly the relative was obsessed with John F. Kennedy and has a large variety of non-coin items about him as well as Kennedy halves.

Thank you!

Sort the US coins from the tokens and trinkets.

Sort the silver from the clad.

Luckily nowadays with the internet if you search hard enough you should be able to find the value of each mass produced items. Some folk art or off the grid items may be harder to price and it is better to be conservative and be surprised what it sells for on ebay than to go big and get stuck with a bunch of worthless junk.

Are you getting paid for your time and do you have errors & omissions insurance?
