I just bought an instrument for $1200. I made sure I had no open offers when I bought it. It was a now-or-never opportunity and the price was extraordinarily good, so I didn't wait. I got over $20 in ebay bucks, so I was happy. Two days later, I get a message saying I have an 8% ebay bucks offer. That would have been $90. Thanks ebay...

It's just a computer thing, nothing else. It's like spam or a robo solicitation phone call. Don't take it personally, and never think ebay is actually looking out for your best interests.

Those sorta things happen at the most inopportune times it seems. Not advocating anything improper but you COULD explain the situation to your Seller and have him cancel the sale and relist the item for you. There's no money out of his pocket; ebay just isn't making as much money as they would have (Something like 30$ instead of 120$ or something like that). As always just contingent on whether you still have a valid certificate along with a cooperative Seller.

Yeah, don't take it personally and assume the computers hate just you - they hate everyone!

Happened to me too...been waiting for a bucks promotion, found a really nice coin that someone would have picked up otherwise, and I was a little mad when I checked my ebay messages yesterday and I had that one floating around. Would have been another 60$ on my end.

I sometimes wonder if the purchase is what triggers the Bucks offer. It's like ebay says, oh, TypeCoin made a big purchase. Let's send them an offer to see if we can get them to buy again.

I hear your frustration, what really irked me was this time it was a 6 hour "VIP" bonus offer. Nothing in my watch list was ending that soon. I have in the past purchased a high end coin, only to get the ebay bucks promotion the next day!

Great discussion. I spend a ton on ebay, but have never received one of these VIP offers.

I just spent $200 on a couple of nice US army helmets, only to get an invitation to sign up for eBucks the dat after. It's only $10 I missed out on, but hey, that's $10!
