Still looks like a nice one to me. I'm with my you regarding leaving in a slab. (God forbid) you ever need to sell , it's going to be much easier given that it's certified. It's a shame but there's too many fakes out there. I've seen some people use those little mint tokens that come in UC sets as hole fillers for keys.

Like I said, I like your style.

I have a pretty decent slab collection myself as well as raw and some pretty pricey stuff both ways. I want to crack every slab sooooo badly but my kids or whomever gets it all when I die could lose dome grading battles versus what they sit in now and why bother IMO, one in the hand is better than two in the bush. I've left very explicit instructions to send it all to Heritage, have them slab what is raw and let them auction the whole lot when that fateful day comes at some point in the future.

nice little 16-D.

Sometimes it's depressing to think we really don't own them....they are just on lease so long as we can enjoy them, lol.

We're curators. We keep important pieces of American history safe and sound until its time to pass them to the next generation. I honor my coins by aspiring to be a Numismatist and learn as much as I can and study the different aspects that encompass what I am responsible for. What's depressing for me is that I cannot have more and in higher grades. I would love Mint State rarities in gold and certain series I admire.

Very well stated. DS. I'm ok with AG3. Just like women, they always look in better shape to me when I'm drunk anyway. :-O

I greatly admire a balanced and varied collection. I've got coins, raw, and slabbed, from culls and Poor 1 lowballs to Proof 70 DCAM stunners, and everything in between. To me, the only thing a coin needs to get added to my collection is for me to like it (and be able to afford it!)

A coin in a slab USED to be what is needed to prove it's authentic. However, today with the now presence of faked slabs, you could have a faked coin in a faked slab and not know it.
