I asked the seller about still being able to see some of the printing.

They answered "what you are seeing is the reverse side showing through." They are in denial.

I wrote back and told them they were full of it (not in those exact words). I did tell them that they knew or should know they were selling a fake error.

Seller replied "Well, after further inspection I owe you an apology. You are right. it shows much better in the photo then in your hand honestly. It was an honest mistake. I'm still not sure it was bleached. have you seen this before. I was told they stamp it in parts and maybe something happened during the stamping process. thanks for the info. I just didn't want to believe it."

Low and behold, the listing isn't ended. I wrote back and told them they need to cancel the bids and end the listing.
