I am guessing the ink on the reverse is from the mint. Thanks for any opinions in advance. I would like to spend it on a coin, but thought to hold onto it for a while.

AG - unclear what you are referring to by "ink on the reverse".

On the reverse right hand side is what appears to be dark ink between the two 50's north and south. It seems to be part of the bill and not ink spilled or dabbed on it. The bill is in fairly good shape. I thought it may have been a Bureau of Engraving and Printing error.

I see what you mean. It looks like a water color wash and it doesn't likely that such watery ink would be at the BEP.

Water damage external to the BEP.
It would be a spender if it were mine.

Must agree. Pinch marks almost look like shadows in the pic.

Are you sure the bill is genuine? Counterfeit notes printed on, say, an ink-jet printer would have their ink run like that if wet.

These "ink marks" seem to be running from the margin inward, rather than from the design outward.

True, but the paper itself would be covered in pink ink, so a wet spot anywhere would cause running. But I see that the OP said in the title that the bill was acquired from the bank, so a fake is highly unlikely. It was just a thought from far out in left field that I had.

A few years ago I would have thought that the bank would be ultimate safe place for non counterfeit cash. Some of the tellers lately make me think otherwise. I am still curious about the stains. I think this may go towards the few last morgans.

Thanks CelticKnot ! I sure pay more attention to all change and now bills. I just thought this may be an error bill that escaped the BEP. I have an newer error $5 that confuses people when they see it.
