Yesterday I returned home from a 2 week holiday (vacation) in Orlando.
Now as a UK based collector of American coins I naturally wanted to fit in a little CRH amongst all of the other stuff, and knowing that families aren't that keen on visiting banks, I came up with a plan.
I decided to hire a second rental car for a day and spend the entire day visiting all the banks that I could find. The aim was to request as many rolls of half dollars as possible, hoping (but not expecting) to find silver.
I visited a variety of banks, some had no halves at all, some only one or two and some had a lot (a branch of Chase had $120 worth).
In total I drove over 100 miles around Orlando and picked up around $250 worth of halves.
When I have unpacked my camera I will take some photos of the best finds but here is a quick list of what a managed to get:
1 x 1950 D Franklin
1 x 1951 D Franklin
7 x 40% silver Kennedy's.
The best bank only had eight halves but there were four silvers including the two Franklins.
Very pleased with that. Last time I was in Florida I didn't get any silver at all.
