Thought that this map posted on PCGS's Twitter feed was interesting. Appears to be a pretty good spatial distribution of authorized dealers in highly populated areas on the east, west coasts, and the rust belt area. Florida probably has an higher than average concentration of coin dealers per capita and the Denver area might as well. Texan cities seem a bit underrepresented for their population sizes.

The higher concentrations seem to generally coincide with where the large urban areas are located. I concur with your rematk regarding Texas - in particular, it'd appear there's not even one in El Paso, which is a pretty good sized city.

I guess it's inversely proportional with the number of gun shops.

On a serious note: it's much more useful to have a list of coin shops that make up the map. It's found here: http://www.PCGS.com/dealers/

It looks like rain is forecast in the big cities tonight.

They may want to work on their spatial mapping software. Seems the ocean off the coast of LA, San Francisco, New York, Florida, etc. are well covered for a good 100 miles or so? I'm sure the sea creatures are submitting coins in droves...

That is so PCGS can create the "First salvaged" and "First day of surfacing" slabs for sunken ship treasure discoveries.

Buy the coin, not the slab.
