As I was channel surfing last night, I spotted America Auction Network selling off Morgans.
The 'narrator' mentioned these Morgans were part of the Nixon Hoard, released in 1972 before the Bicentennials were made.
Can someone elaborate on this true/not true statement?

Interesting. It's possible they're referring to the GSA releases, which began in 1973 and were first sold with notes from then-President Nixon enclosed. As far as a "Nixon" hoard, I know of nothing.

The packaging was clear plastic about the size of an avergae hand with a black background.
Only one I can recall was an 1880 CC going for $150 in VF 20 condition at beast but the rest of them looked MS.

Yeah, that's the GSA release. A whole bunch of Morgans had been hoarded by the Treasury, and the General Services Administration was given the job of liquidating them. This happened via mail-order sales to individual citizens between 1972-1974.

Today, coins in the original GSA holders carry a bit of a premium over "raw" examples, and NGC grades them without removing them from the original GSA holder.
