Yes! Not as much as there was in the 70s or 80s, but there most certainly is some out there. I don't think it will ever go completely away. As long as there is a jar of coins on somebody's desk they haven't ever checked that a family member decides to deposit years later it can always keep popping up.

No, silver coins are "not" kept out of "machine wrapped rolls" from banks, not by weight or even by size difference on occasion. They are just simply scarce and not easy to find. The coin sorting machines just don't do a good thorough job, thank goodness. I even found an Australian 92% silver coin while searching a bank box of PENNIES (machine wrapped of course) a couple weeks ago ! But to find silver in any denomination, you just need an obsessive perseverance of doing box after box after box after box after box after box after box after box...etc...THEN you might find "one"...or you might find 8 or 3... You can't only do 3 boxes, come up with a summation, or an assumption, and quit. If you keep at it, you WILL find silver, it just takes more quantity than most people are willing to go through....

Yes... I found a 64-D quarter today... I've found around 30 silver coins to date in 4 months of coin roll hunting.

I posted this in the Modern Coin section a couple of weeks ago. My daughter, who works part-time at the local library, received a 1964-D Roosevelt in change from a patron. She bought it out of the till and gave it to me.

I need mostly quarters as change for my cash register. I DO go through all the coin rolls before I use them as change though. I have yet to find one silver quarter.

Excellent! Now repeat after me, "I have yet to find a silver half dollar." Try for the dollar once you get that out of the way.

Yes there is. By this point, I think all silver has been taken out at least once, but thieves, heirs, kids, etc put some back in. I have found 1 silver dime in a brinks roll.

I routinely find silver in coin counter's reject bins. more often I find foreign coins but silver dimes are fairly common. quarters less so and I have never found any half dollars silver or clad.
