Got this as change from a coin dump. I have not read up much on serial numbers as I am slowly getting into paper note collection but at lower denominations. I am wondering what type of serial number this is and hoe much could I get for one.

Thanks.

Worth more? The true(st) definition I know for worth, is what you can get someone else to pay for it.
That being said, I think that you could find someone who would pay a few dollars extra for that, but if you used ebay, you would not make a profit. The issue with large bills is that you pay the ebay fees on the principal. The premium does not seem to be percentage based and therefore your profitability is next to nothing. If you sold at a show or something like that, you could bake money, making it "worth" more.

Personally and respectfully, I would not pay above face for it, and I doubt I would keep it if I found it in circulation. I'm extremely picky when it comes to keeping $100's. Someone may like quad pairs and be willing to give you a small premium over face, just not me. Cool serial number, thanks for sharing.

i have never understood why a serial number - generates any premium value at all. it is simply a sequential identifier.

i agree that some numbers are "cooler" than others, but not more valuable.

Yah, I'll agree with everyone else here. The serial number may be mildly interesting, but I wouldn't say it added any premium to its value. If it were a $1 or $5 not, it might add a little bit to the right collector, but not on a $100. Not one of the recognized classes of "fancy" serial numbers and just not interesting enough to keep out of circulation.

Agree $100s have to be really special to keep. I'd let it go.

Thanks for your input. I am a roll hunter and sometimes come across some interesting notes when dumping and only started to pay attention to serial numbers. I will just return it in to the wild. Thanks again.
