Some people on this site are pretty quick to roast the buyer, and defend a seller they know. That last part is no surprise, but the comments sure seem tilted towards the buyer being wrong.

I've dealt on ebay since 1998 with no negatives and 100% positive as both a buyer and seller, and I was treated in a similar way here last year. My sympathy is more on taekendo's side in this one.

Thanks Osiris, I noticed the same thing & appreciate the support. As I said before, in 11 years on ebay, I have never rec`d nor given a Neg because although some seller or buyers have been difficult, I have never had my integrity & integrity insulted like this for a $20 coin. If a buyer had said the coin you sent me doesn`t show a deep scratch in the listing, the first thing I would respond is that I didn`t notice and offer a partial refund or to refund the coin. And if the buyer to the time to send me very clear photos for me to examine, I would take the time rather than blast him back with accusations of thievery off-hand and then blast him some more because he defends himself from my accusations.

I have also contributed to this forum on several occasions in various threads. This doesn`t mean I deserve special treatment, nor is any expected. I`m not interested in playing the martyr either and crying over spilled milk. What`s done is done. I`ve done my part, removed the neg. FB, tried to make amends for my contribution to the escalated tension between myself & the seller because I added fuel to his fire.

Even if ebay rules in my favor in this dispute, it will be less than satisfying victory, but at least justice will have taken it`s course and the page will be turned.

On ebay with the way things are, with the buyer always being right it is best for a seller to do only one thing.
A no questions , satisfaction guaranteed , or a cheerful refund. It is insane for a seller to even get into it with a buyer.
A buyer on a mission can destroy a sellers ebay account so fast it would make your head spin.
The way we do it is offer a 14 day full return privilege for any reason. As a member of the ANA I am duty bound to offer return privileges anyways. Even if an ebay seller does NOT offer returns , the buyer still has 100 per cent recourse and will get money back anyways.
Best advice to all sellers keep smiling , stay positive and stay out of GONG shows such as what went on here.
Also a little more " grandfatherly" advice from an old war horse. If you are selling on ebay to Canadian Buyers , do not sell items unless you are going to track them . This pretty much is the only way to bullet proof your account.
Since tracking in Canada is very expensive , you really cannot sell 5 to 50 dollar items very easily. You don't track and you are wide open to getting crucified by the " I didn't get it " scammers. These kind of individuals will destroy your account.
To finish my rather lengthy tome , in over 41 years of being a coin dealer and 16 years selling on ebay , I have had only a hand full of bad experiences. That said only one was NOT with a Canadian.

I've shipped to CDN buyers without tracking and haven't had a problem in 11 years but I've had problems with both CDN & US sellers, I would say about half-half. But then I buy way more than I sell so...

I chose to close the case after winning my dispute without sending the coin back. Rather than put salt in the wound and have the seller pay another $20 for return shipping which is required by ebay, I think it's enough now & time to move on.
