Ken the murder you are referring to is Vancouver WA USA . AJPM precious metals a US firm. hardly has a bearing on White Rock BC. There have been no murders of any Canadian coin dealer employee out here.

Ok, I stand corrected, didn't know there was a Vancouver in the US...thought only Canada had strange names for their provinces (states). The headline I saw said The Coin Shop, Vancouver & this sellers 'The Coin Shop' in in Vancouver. My bad.

MontCollector: I see your point, having read your follow up post. It's a good thought.

TaeKenDo I can understand your point, especially given the tone of that email exchange. It really does seem as if something is going on with the seller that has nothing directly to do with you. Only if this was a known rogue seller would a two-way battle over $35 be worthwhile. Considering everything, if it were me, I'd take a deep breath and extend an olive branch, offer to return the coin for a full refund, remove the feedback, forget about it and move on without letting this incident tarnish the enthusiasm and keenness that you exhibit in your posts here toward the hobby in general. But good luck in whatever course you take, whatever way, I hope it works out for you.

Thanks for the encouragement wildflowerAB, I'm sure he isn't a bad guy and Pacificoin is vouching for him. We all have our moments. I'll be glad when it's over, it's so piddly.

What. a. mess. It seems like both the OP and the seller are good guys who managed to get into a tussle. It's not about the scratch on the coin, it's about two people, both of whom felt that they'd been abused and both of whom overreacted. I'm guessing that the seller didn't like the buyer's tone when approached about the scratch that didn't show up on the scan, and things just escalated from there. I've got to say that posting negative feedback with an unsubstantiated accusation of fraud is way over the top. If I were the OP I would immediately ask ebay to remove the negative feedback, or at least the comments about Photoshopping, and apologize to the seller. I would probably accompany the apology with an account of how I felt that the seller had been out of line to begin with, leading me to overreact, but try to word it so that it was more conciliatory than inflammatory. Just my 2¢ worth.

Haha...that's funny, I just got through a few minutes of contemplating getting the FB removed entirely and putting this to rest. As long as it's there, I'll be connected to it and it will annoy me every time I think of it. I'll look into it tomorrow because I couldn't find a way to do it through my ebay account, I tried. I guess ebay has full control of the FB.

A little update to be fair to those who contributed their experiences as well as their opinions & advice. I still stand behind my opinion which is shared by a few others here that he should have disclosed the missing scratch because it would have changed my bid or I would have let it go altogether. I wouldn't have been disappointed at all, nor returned it if even a hint of it was in the photos (or the seller mentioned it in the listing). I sent a message to the seller but he hasn't responded with a FB removal request, nothing I can do until he does. I called ebay and they said he has to request the removal from you, ebay no longer removes Pos. or Neg. FB, it has to come from the buyer & seller. I guess ebay's getting tired of playing referee...loll My message to the seller: I have decided to request ebay remove the Neg. FB I left for you regardless of their decision. I think I reacted to your accusatory message and was extremely insulted but over-reacted. I am a very honest buyer & seller and would NEVER switch out a coin to rip someone of, especially not a $20 coin. Don't you think that if I would try to rip someone off that I would have chosen a coin with a worthwhile value...? I'm sure your are a decent person as well and things got a little over heated. I wish you the best with your store in the future. My regards, Ken

As I stated earlier, I think Ken is in error on this one as the pictures show enough scratches/marks that missing one more is not a critical factor.
However, I do like the fact that Ken sent that last email to the seller and I'll give him full marks for being very sincere and thoughtful.

Without addressing the main issue here, couldn't you just send the conciliatory email without the gratuitous dig at the seller:
......"especially not a $20 coin. Don't you think that if I would try to rip someone off that I would have chosen a coin with a worthwhile value..."
Respect and politeness go a long way in this, and any business.

I understand everyone thinking I should be the gracious one but where does the seller's responsibility come in... I was forthright with him from the beginning and got blasted. I don't know how many here who are so quick to judge Me for defending my integrity from an accuser, would have kept their cool perfectly. I made an effort to make amends but it wasn't a dig at the end, it was a logical conclusion. If the seller had have stopped & thought for a second before replying the way he did that set this ball in motion, I wouldn't have shared this experience. The reason I did was because in 11 years on ebay, I've never been accused of this, nor spoken to this way. I began by looking for opinions of the likeness of 2 coins, not a whole saga being made out of it. Coinsarecool: tae-ken-d0 (zero, not o) feel free to do what pleases you, no probelm whatsoever.

It is too late now, but in the future my free advice is to always reserve leaving feedback until the transaction "is over". By that I mean, you are satisfied with your purchase, or any return is completed and you have your money back. It is my personal opinion that feedback should the the LAST thing a buyer does and signals the end of the transaction from the buyer's perspective. You were treated improperly by the seller. You, however, made a false accusation in your feedback comment. Neither of you are completely in the right, here. If it were me, I think I would let the comment stand. Changing it to a neutral makes no real change since ebay treats neutral feedback the same as negative. Leaving it as a negative but changing the comment would be just throwing salt into the wound.
