I agree. The US double-sided baseball is very creatively designed. The Cdn NCLT, the queen's head on the backside of a basketball...just so it can be advertised as the "first ever convex-shaped coin"....when we know it's not? Just my opinion but I hope this is one that flops. RCM deserves it. |

Round ball, domed sky, dome of some building, water drop - yes. But ball and the basketball players on top of it - lame idea. It makes people to be out of proportions, looking like stuck to the ball. |

Did anyone notice that the August birthstone was not part of the July releases? Usually the birthstone is sold one month early.
This probably means there will be another July coin release soon. This July release seems very skimpy considering the large amount of coins put out by the Mint each month.

When I received the Advance Notice on Monday, the August birthstone (with a green swarovski stone) was on it. See the first post on this thread where I listed the release of the coin. Maybe, it is already sold out?

The email I got on Monday only listed 4 coins:

Look down further where the subscription series of coins are listed on the notice and you will find the August Birthstone with a green swarovski crystal.

The August birthstone is listed in the pamphlet I got in the mail.
If the raptors did just a little better, that might have helped the sale of the basketball coin, especially if you had a few autographs of players on the box the coin is in. Although that's easier to say than do since I'm not a fan of basketball and couldn't name a single player. A cross collectable that inspires coin collecting would be welcomed.

I think the mint can get away with the "our first coloured convex coin goes into play!" on a technically speaking kind of way but this coin isn't really that impressive to me. Perhaps seeing it in hand would change my view.

Just curious, is the Exclusive Access to the Polar Bear with blue water coin still available to MC members? It was released the end of April and the 45 days are long past. If it didn't presell well considering the 4000 mintage, I'm thinking RCM might wish to ice it. |

Sold out at the mint is a selling tactic , while it maybe sold out at the RCM it doesn't mean its going to be more valuable then issue price on the secondary market. The Shopping channel uses this tactic in most of their coin listings. Edited by Northerncoins
