Hello everyone. I'm new to the CC forum, I have something interesting. I have a 1966 Lincoln Cent that is noticeably smaller in diameter and is thinner than a normal size 1966 Lincoln Cent. I will post some detailed pics sometime tomorrow. I'm 47 and have never seen a penny like this, I,ve seen many error penny's but nothing like this.
It is probably an acid dipped cent. They used to put them in acid to reduce the thickness and diameter to make them work for a dime in the vending machines in the 60's to get a soda for one cent instead of a dime. They look like this: Note how the rim of the coin goes away first. The thickness and the design maybe altered. But that is what they look like.
