This is why I cant leave a coin on my window sill to tone. My cat finds it and ends up batting it around our wood floors.

Could this be described as a catastrophe?

You might catalogue it that way.

Cats are greedy little thieves. I've caught one of ours on multiple occasions knocking pocket change off the kitchen counters and batting it all around the floor. It's like what are you even going to do with that quarter? You can't buy anything with that, and under the fridge is not a recommended collection system.

Scatter some Chinese fakes around the house to distract the cat from the genuine stuff

It would be good if they actually told you in spoken language what was their smelling technique on how to identify fakes. Let you know how they felt (smelt) about that.............

Give your cat a ping pong ball - THAT will provide the necessary diversion! Keep your emergency diversionary numismatic protection system close at hand! Sometimes, I get inebriated with the exuberance of my own verbosity!

Cats should never be allowed in the same room with coins. Cats love shiny things, disaster would be inevitable.

Once Felix gets on top of some coins, that's it! I have to shake a pack of his favorite cat treats to dislodge him!

My cat has done the exact same thing. I was sitting at a table with a pile of coins on the edge, when suddenly my old cat (really, he's *old*) jumped up and slam dunked the pile on the floor. Then he started playing with the shiniest one. He must have drunk from the fountain of youth that day, as he hadn't jumped for almost a year... Fortunate for me, they weren't the world's most valuable coins, like Seated Liberty dollars and so... Anyway, seems like you got catatonic and let the cat play... ps. Make sure you make an account for your cat here. I'd welcome anyone with a numismatic interest.

Type - I think we all assume those are not real, or we would be reading an obit for both you and the cat.
