Came from Gramps. Included was a little note in Danish or Norwegian... neither of which I speak.
Some enthroned potentate apparently conferring some important-ness upon a kneeling nude dude. Ahem.
Any ideas?

Not Greek, but from Iceland. This is a commemorative medallic 10 kronur, struck in 1930 to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of the Althing, the parliament.
Obv: Enthroned Norse God with kneeling children.
Rev: Crowned Arms with four mythic creatures, value impressed on edge.

Tip: just type the note from gramps into Google Translate to find out what it is about. If it doesn't give an understandable result, then type it here and I'll see what I can do for you.

Yes, this is one of the most magnificent pieces in the world, & I feel honoured to own the full three-piece set in its original mint case.

Thanks, Chute. I do carry on a bit... but then They don't let me out much so I take what I can get!

Publius, thanks. My coin has its original little midnight blue, satin-lined sheath. I'd love to see a pic of your set if you don't mind.

Ultra, thank you! You remind me that I did google a translation a few years ago when I first found this little treasure. 'Til your comment, I'd forgotten all about it. My brain leaks, lately.

And Bart, you are a doll! Iceland makes so much more sense... I'm Scandanglo and the Greek thing triggered my brain's ABS system and that's never a good thing.

Thank you all so much for sharing your brainy bits... Cool group!
