I have an iPhone 6 that I use to take my not so great, well not even not so good pics with. I've read that I need to purchase an 18% gray board to help with lighting issues.
Thoughts? Links? Ideas? Please.

PS: I know that I need to purchase more than a gray board, however I'm on tight budget, so atm I can only start w/a board...or at least something in the $20 or less range, whether it's a board or something else.

I just use a white index card to set white balance.

Would using this stone from my coffee table work in place of a gray card? Or not so much?

The bottom photograph was taken on my laptop. The gray stone is the top.
