How about independence *from* the US?

Post-A-Coin-For-Independence-Day Post-A-Coin-For-Independence-Day

The Philippines were granted independence from the US on July 4, 1947. The MacArthur peso was minted to celebrate the liberation from Japanese rule which served as a catalyst for the US to consider independence for the islands.
