Finn235 Pillar of the Community United States 6130 Posts	Posted 06/24/2016 10:22 am Finally sat down to drudge through and downsize the massive lot of cash coins I bought a little while ago (so my wife will stop giving me the evil eye every time a new package comes), and got stumped on this one: I was able to find it at: http://art-hanoi.com/toda/21.html#274 (#274) But that's about where it ends, under "uncertain rebel/prince coinage" Calling upon the hive mind-- anyone able to provide more info? turtlefoot Valued Member United States 182 Posts	Posted 06/24/2016 7:01 pm I am only a casual collector of Chinese coins, but it looks a LOT like some of the Shen Tsung Cash from China (1068-1085). If it is from Vietnam, I have some re-attributing to do. Report this Post to the Staff
Finn235 Pillar of the Community United States 6130 Posts	Posted 06/24/2016 10:33 pm You might be on to something there, but the rest of this lot was mostly Qing dynasty (both the cast cash and those machine struck 10/20 cash) and Vietnamese cash from the 19th century. Shen Tsung would make this the oldest in the whole lot by nearly 600 years, but I guess that might be more likely than a Vietnamese rebel. Report this Post to the Staff

If it is Annamese, then it should be very thin and weigh much less than a normal cash coin. Annam is known for copying Chinese issues in their own coinage, albeit their coins were much smaller.
