I have a very worn out Chinese Wu Zhu style Cash coin that has a reverse character. I know that some with the reverse character are attributable, but I am not sure how to go about doing this. If there is anyone that can help, I would appreciate it.

The reverse character looks like an upside down T. I was told by one individual that it might be the "rod number" 6.

Thank you for your time and I appreciate all comments.

Doug

I believe that you have been correctly told that the 'T' on your Wu Zhu coin is a rod number representing the number '6' written in the old rod numeral system. http://ncm.gu.se/pdf/namnaren/4548_90_1.pdf)

I've read that such Wu Zhus that have these numerals were meant to be "tags" at the end of a string of coins. Exactly how they were used is uncertain, but they may have been a counting mechanism.

Your coin is an Eastern Han Dynasty coin that has had its rims clipped.
