I haven't seen this topic yet. I have some beautiful Lincols & IHC's that are "Woody's" so I've heard. These coins actually look like wood. I personally think that they are more beautiful than the vibrant reds that are pretty valuable. Can anyone enlighten me how these beauties come into existance. I've heard of a phillipine mahagony strike or metal or something to that nature. Any answers to what causes them? Just a not well mixed batch at the smelter? Thanks all.
As I understand it it is due to poor or incomplete mixing of the alloy. The results is streaks of brassy colered metal along with streaks of copper colored metal.
