Not as lucrative as it used to be. I mean I have seen a drastic change in 6 months!!
I just opened up a new account at a new credit union to see how good or bad their rolls are.

At what point should I go to another city/town & start looking?

I purchase 1-2 boxes per week.

You'd most likely have to drive 100 miles or more to get coin from a different central bank or service.

there is just as likely to be the same quality coin no matter where it comes from. Unless you live in an extremely small and or isolated town and are just getting your own dumps back.

why don't you switch denomination, for a few weeks? I think everyone goes through dry spells.

I agree, try a different denomination, preferably one you haven't thought much about collecting. Expand your horizons! Good luck!

I don't know what to change to bc I don't feel led or pulled in another direction.

It's not a bad idea though.

How does one go about deciding?

what are you looking for now cents, nickles? whoever one you are doing, try the other, if you are looking for silver, change from halfs to dimes.

or change up how you ask for the coins, instead of buying boxes, ask if they have any customer wrapped rolls, you usually find better stuff that way.

make sure your main pick up bank knows you are a collector, and ask if they have any unusual coins, oddball coins etc, you may find some interesting stuff.

Yes, get a box of nickels. No second guessing, just do it.

I prefer to only get customer wrapped cents.
In all the boxes I've ever gone through I've only maybe, maybe gone through 6 boxes of ones from the treasury. Maybe less.
Out of thousands of dollars in cents $150 is hardly anything.

However a few weeks I didn't have a choice & was given 150 rolls from the treasury & it produced far more wheaties but less varieties.
And the ones from the treasury were in much worse condition than customer rolls.
