I recently picked up this raw stone mountain half. I know very little about classic commemoratives. What grade would this be and how much is it worth? Thanks!

It is possible to build a nice representative collection of classic commemorative Halves in less than MS condition, for a reasonable cost.
This one VF25.
Nowhere near potentially valuable enough to justify being slabbed.
Rest in Peace

Solid VF in the 30-35 range. Any of the pre-55 classic silver commemorative coins are wonderful additions to any collection.

But be careful as they are highly addictive.

I judge your coin to be in the VF range ... and as such a common example in today's market. Value is melt plus some collector premium as this example is highly popular with collectors.

True ... as long as you are pursuing the 20 type set examples minted prior the USA depression ... or the three post WWII.

The 27 type set examples minted during the 'commemorative craze' era of 1934 - 1939 are very difficult to find in any circulated state ... and priced accordingly.
