I went to the bank today to purchase a box of lincoln pennies to hunt through and guess what I received, A full box of 2008D Lincoln's. I heard they were selling for around $3 per roll on ebay but is it worth it with their new fees to sell them there or should I put a few rolls aside and return the rest?

This is definitely just my 2 cents (ha, I made a funny), but I would go thru all of them and find the choicest 101 of them. 100 would get re-rolled for me and 1 would have the spot in my Dansco album. I would take a shot at selling some on ebay. If you have success than keep goin. If not you can ALWAYS take them back to el banco.

People would really pay $80 bucks for that? If that's the case...GO FOR IT.

Congrats! That is the first I've heard of someone getting the new 08's from the bank. I noticed they were selling 08 boxes on ebay for a real premium. If I were in your shoes I'd sell the whole box on ebay, and try to get another 08 box from the bank to sell on ebay as well. I think the reason why people are willing to pay such a substantial premium is because they want to be the first to own these new MS coins. Once it is 2009 nobody will pay a premium for last years pennies. Don't believe the hype! good luck! -PP

Well I listed it on ebay with a BIN of $80. I am going back to the bank I got it from and see if I can get more as I always love to triple my money on any investment.

Well I picked up 4 more boxes this morning and have 4 more waiting for me to pick up this afternoon. I should hopefully make a nice profit to be able to put into some nice keys for my collection.

Quick question on the boxes of 2008D pennies. I received a question about why I opened the boxes. My answer was that I wanted to make sure they were 2008 Lincolns and not 2007 Lincolns as the banks still have boxes of the 2007 pennies. Does a sealed box have more value? I would think that you would go through the rolls and cherry pick the absolute best coins and put those aside. Am I missing something here?

an unopened box is proof that the coins have not been searched through already ,, I figure the ones buying these boxes are searching for varieties and errors .
