Hello again,

I see this coin offered at a European site, labeled as a "medieval German bracteate (Hohlpfennig)". But it doesn't look like other German bracteates I can find. It has some similarity to Danish/Estonian bracteates or French/Strasbourg deniers.

At bottom I have included a picture of what I usually think of as a "German" bracteate.

Can anyone ID it or offer some additional suggestions about where in Europe this may have come from?

Much perplexed,
John

Nice little coin John--i think that it would be a good pick-up!

Personally I think $USD80 is a little bit to much for the first coin.
But the seller has a good feedback...
